GOP Sell Out

posted Friday, 18 May 2007

I never thought I would see the day that I turned my back on George Bush and the GOP, but that day has finally come.  I was a tremendous advocate of President Bush and the GOP through the Global War on Terror and turn a blind eye to the run away spending by the GOP.  I can no longer do this in good conscience; a man I thought would go down as one of the greatest Presidents in history has now cemented his legacy right next to that of Jimmy Carter as one of the worst Presidents in this Nation’s history.

The Immigration Bill that has been fast tracked through the Senate and led by Kennedy and McCain is a disgrace and a slap in the face of the conservative base that the Republican Party supposedly covets.  I suppose they can replace the voters they lose with this insane amnesty plan with illegal immigrants that they want to welcome with open arms.

Not only are they willing to allow criminals who flagrantly break this nation’s laws and falsify their documentation to work here illegally, they will have to create another unmanageable government bureaucracy to manage the ridiculous provisions of this bill.  With a government that has grown at an alarming pace under President Bush we will now develop another ineffective money pit.  Who will pay for this, the tax payers!

We now hear the rhetoric that they are here doing jobs Americans won’t do.  This is naïve and anyone who believes that is an idiot!  The welfare roles are full of able bodied Americans who simply have no incentive to get off the couch and do those jobs.  Why would they go pick lettuce when they can watch soaps and get their check?  The solution to this fabricated situation where American’s won’t do certain jobs is simple; get able bodied Americans off welfare and make them earn a living.

The fact that John McCain, a presidential wannabe, has signed on to this deal with the likes of Senator Kennedy shows that he has not read his history.  Senator Kennedy has been “fixing” the broken immigration time and time again dating back to 1965.  He turns up every 15 years or so and seizes the opportunity to “fix” it again, garnering false praise for doing nothing more than selling this Nation down the river.  The fact that McCain, who is already bearing the burden of the finance reform fiasco he co-authored with Russ Feingold, is a party to this shows his lack of judgment and should effectively end his run for the White House.

This insanity has probably cost the GOP any chance of regaining control of congress and will probably cost them the White House in 2008.  The uproar from conservatives across the nation is gaining momentum and it will be heard at the polls.  There is little hope of a third party emerging that will have any success; history has shown that we are a Nation that is locked into its two party system.  The most likely, and most tragic, scenario is that conservatives throw up their hands in disgust and tell the GOP to go scratch.  I, for one, has put away his check book and will not give another dime to the GOP until they return to their conservative roots.
